Hobbies
I am a retired Air Force officer (Lt Col) and pilot, with 25 years experience, currently working as a flight instructor for a major aircraft manufacturer. I have flown with and taught pilots from over 30 countries and worked with heads of state, CEOs of fortune 500 companies, and senior military officers. I have lived abroad for many years in South America and Europe and speak, read and write fluent Spanish. I am an Eagle Scout, one of my most cherished accomplishments, and have worked as a Boy Scout leader, youth mentor, counselor, and swim coach. I have worked with and tutor almost exclusively special needs children from age 8 to 17 with challenges ranging from ADHD, to bipolarism. Three of my four children are special needs and this have allowed me to understand the rewards of working with children with these challenges. They are an absolute joy to work with and have found it very fulfilling. As a result of these experiences and with over 30 years of teaching I know that anyone can learn. Many times it is a matter of the teacher being able to adjust teaching style to fit the student, not the student to fit the teacher. This is the advantage of one-on-one tutoring. I get to know the student personally and come to understand what we will need to do as a student/teacher/parent team in order to be successful.
